Our Why
VideoTranslatorAI was born in 2021, when our founding team’s discussions with doctors in multilingual India revealed how a single mistranslation can endanger lives.
In a country with 22 official languages, equal access to information is a challenge.
Speaking with doctors, a significant challenge was that simple mistranslations would often result in the wrong medication being prescribed, with adverse and sometimes fatal side effects for patients.
Multilingualism is challenging for the healthcare system with so many official languages and thousands of regional dialects in India. This challenge is present in healthcare, and other services sectors, worldwide.
To bridge this gap, which we think of as the 'communication at scale' challenge, the idea of VideoTranslator was born.

In Person Interpretation and Notes
Our in-person mode supports both monologues and conversations when participants are speaking one or more languages.
The app can interpret live dialogue across languages while also capturing a transcript and producing a structured English summary for the session organiser.
This is especially useful when staff need accurate follow-up notes, action lists, or documentation for legal and regulatory requirements.
Video Call Transcription and Two-Language Interpretation
Our video call mode supports two core patterns: English-only calls with high-quality transcription and summary, and two-language calls where participants can speak in different languages.
In both scenarios, sessions can be summarised automatically using custom prompts so teams can standardise records, handovers, and compliance workflows.
This helps organisations reduce manual admin and keep post-call outputs clear, consistent, and ready to share.
Broadcast for Multilingual Group Communication
Our broadcast mode is designed for one-to-many and one-to-many-with-replies communication in multilingual sessions, with support for up to 30 participants.
Participants can listen and respond in their nominated language while everyone receives output in the language they selected, enabling inclusive communication at scale.
Prompt Customisation for Practical Outputs
Users can describe, in plain language, how they want summaries to be written and our AI converts that into prompt instructions behind the scenes.
Summaries are delivered as text and can be automatically emailed to the person who set up the session.
