Canva is an Australian graphic design platform, used by creators to make social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents, and other visual content.

So… how can Canva enhance your videos?

Well, first things first.

To use Canva more efficiently, you would need to know some shortcuts. So, what are the shortcut keys available on Canva?

  1. Copy: Cmd/Ctrl + C
  2. Paste: Cmd/Ctrl + V

Quickly Upload Image

To upload an image, you normally would have to go to uploads > select your image. But, did you know that there are easier ways?

To easily upload your image on Canva, you can :

  • simply drag your image to your Canva page, or
  • Copy and paste your image to your page.

Now, you want to add some stickers to your video. You want it in blue, but you are struggling to find one.

How can you do it easily?

The answer is by filtering your elements or photos by colour!

  1. Go to elements and type down the element that you want to add.
  2. Click on the settings button and pick the color of your liking.

You have found a really cool image that you want to add to your video. However, you do not like the background of the photo. You also do not know how to use Photoshop.

How can you remove the background…?

Remove A Background

Here’s what you have to do to remove the background of your image:

  1. Select your image.
  2. Go to effects > remove background.

  3. Adjust the image by restoring or erasing your background according to your liking.

Note: this feature is only available for PRO users.

This time, you want to create those stylish thumbnails with a white silhouette. How do you do that…

It’s easy!

Add White Silhouette To Your Image

  1. Select your image.
  2. Go to effects > remove background.
  3. Duplicate your image and enlarge one of the images.
  4. Go to effects > Duotone and click on settings.

  5. Change the shadow and highlight colours to white.

  6. Make sure that the white image is behind the original image.

Your white silhouette is done, but… why does your design look so messy? How can you align it properly?

It can be quite hard to perfectly align your design on Canva.

Yes, you can sometimes see the pink lines that tell you when a design is aligned. However, it is not quite accurate.

So, here are the tips to help you align your design better!

Perfectly Align Your Design

  1. Go to File on the menu bar and click show ruler.

  2. If you want a horizontal line, drag your cursor from the right side of the ruler towards the center and position it to where you want it to be.
  3. For the vertical line, drag your cursor from the top side of the ruler towards the center and position it to where you want it to be.

  4. To remove the ruler, simply drag the line out of your design page.

It is… TITLE TIME!

You want to create your video’s opening title and want to add a gradient background. But… There is no gradient background that suits your colour palette.

Don’t worry! You can customize your gradient background on Canva!

Add A Gradient Background

  1. Go to elements and type down gradient.
  2. Select the gradient graphics.

  3. Adjust the color of your gradient.
  4. You can change the gradient location by flipping the image vertically and horizontally or manually rotate the image.

Okay, the gradient background is solved.

We are now moving on to creating your Title.

How can you design a fancy title?

Fear not! Canva has made it so easy to adjust your texts!

Create Curved Text

Here is how you can make curved trendy texts.

  1. Type your text.
  2. On your menu bar, click effects.

  3. Here, you can choose text styling. There are so many different stylings that you can choose, such as shadow, lift, hollow, splice, echo, glitch, and even neon!

  4. Scroll down to shape and select curve.
  5. Adjust the curve.

Your design is ready, your title is created.

Wait… It is not the right size!

What should you do?!

Resize your image size!

But… isn’t it hard? My design will all be messed up.

Nope! Not on Canva…

Resize Your Image Size

We all know how annoying it can be when you are already working on a project and the image size does not match the requirements.

In Canva, there is a magic tool called resize where you can change the size of your design.

To do this, you have to:

  1. Click on the resize button on the menu bar.

  2. Either type down the new design height and width or choose from Canva’s size template.

  3. Choose whether you want to copy and resize your project with the new design size or if you just want to resize your current design.
  4. Voila! Your design has now been resized!
