VideoTranslatorAI Featured on SBS World News Australia
As we enter a high-alert season for bushfires, there’s never been a more critical time to ensure that all communities - including those from multicultural backgrounds - are equipped with clear and accessible information in their preferred languages.
The SBS World News segment highlighted the crucial role of language accessibility in emergency preparedness and response.
The coverage showcased how real-time translation can bridge language gaps and empower communities to stay informed and safe.
This feature captures our mission: to break down language barriers and provide everyone with equitable access to essential information.
“The liaison officer will speak in English. [The audio] will [then] be transcribed and translated into the target language,” said Tat Banerjee, the Director of VideoTranslatorAI.
Advancing Multilingual Emergency Communication Through the NHTP
This feature also allowed us to showcase our work under the Natural Hazards Technology Program (NHTP), an initiative funded by the NSW Government.
Through this program, VideoTranslatorAI collaborates with the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW State Emergency Service, and the NSW Department of Customer Service to pilot groundbreaking technology that automatically translates emergency alerts into seven key languages.
This project underscores our commitment to helping multicultural communities receive timely, life-saving information in their language.
The NHTP pilot represents a significant step toward ensuring everyone can access emergency updates, irrespective of language barriers.
